SmartView provides PC-12 NG pilots with an accurate 3-D virtual view outside the cockpit that is unencumbered by visual impediments such as fog, bad weather or darkness. The system synthesises key flight information from multiple sensors and presents it to the pilot in one comprehensive, easy-to-understand picture on the cockpit’s Primary Flight Display (PFD), helping to reduce the risks of Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT) and Low-Visibility Loss of Control (LVLOC).
Features of the system include the following:
• Using data from Honeywell’s proven Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) terrain database, SmartView displays a natural 3-D rendering of terrain.
• Flight path symbols make accurate control of the aircraft’s flight path easier.
• Range rings provide easily interpreted and accurate cues about distance, motion and ground closure.
• Extended runway centreline, runway numbering and distance remaining markers present a realistic airport environment and help prevent runway incursions.
• SmartView offers guidance cues, terrain shading and other intuitive prompts to aid Pilatus pilots in critical decision-making.
Honeywell is showcasing its complete line of business aviation offerings at EBACE2013 in Geneva, May 21–23, at Booth #487.
